The first five songs are played hard and heavy in Coalesce`s pummeling metalcore style, peaking with a ferocious version of "Black Dog," spiced up with some of the band`s trademark math metal rhythms. Frontman Sean Ingram handles the lead vocals in his typically caustic, bellowing roar, with Matt Pryor from emo-pop band the Get Up Kids chiming in on the melodic sections in his regular voice -- in other words, no Robert Plant impersonations here! The CD closes with two acoustic guitar-based ballads, "That`s the Way" and "Thank You," giving some idea of what Zeppelin might have sounded like as sensitive Middle American post-adolescents. The vocals, done completely clean, are a little shaky on these tunes and sometimes veer off key, but somehow they work in this context. Led Zeppelin fans might be horrified at the liberties Coalesce takes here, but ultimately the band has succeeded at breathing new life into some heavily worn (though still classic) songs. 1.Q:Can you share us a lil bit information about the band for those who never heard you before.

A: UNION OF SLEEP is Christian (Bass), Rocco (Guitar), Toni (Vocals), Raven (Drums) and me, Ash (Guitar). We started out in early 2008 and recorded our first demo called "Post Nocturnal Hangover" in May 2008. After playing a couple of gigs we recorded again in summer 2009. This recordings are released on PER KORO Records as a 12" Vinyl with 4 new songs and the 4 songs from our demo.

2.Q.How about you describe your musical sound?any bands/artist/books/movies who mainly influence the band?

A: Dude, that's always a tough question. I'm definitly influenced by the shit that surrounds me. Most of the my inspiration comes from every-day life, anger, frustration etc. Gloomy stuff. Some parts are slightly positive, though. Musically we are influenced by a lot of Metal and Punk shit (Black Sabbath, EyeHateGod, Celtic Frost, Melvins, Neurosis etc.) but we all have diffrent musically tastes and preferences. I personally like music that is raw and heavy. Like a juggernaut or something. It doesn't matter what speed you use. That's maybe how we try to sound like.

3.Q:What do you think about SE Asia scene?ever heard,read or knows anything bout SE Asia territory?any future plan for SE Asia tour?

A: Personally I know almost nothing about the SE scene. Besides some TV news and reports from SE Asia, I saw a documentation a while ago about a german punk band (Cluster Bomb Unit) going there to tour. It seemed pretty interesting and very diffrent. A lot of enthusiastic people who are really into the whole thing. There were some informations about the political and socio-political circumstances, too. I would really like to go there, whatever touring or vacation.

4.Q:Currently now Union Of Sleep is preparing for the new material and gonna hit back studio for upcoming album.Can you share with us what it possibly sounds and how it goes so far?

A: Yez, we are going to record around 10 songs in a couple of weeks. We already play some of that songs live and recorded some tracks in our rehearsal room. I like them better than our old stuff. It's much more sick and heavy.

5.Q:Are there any previous or other projects going on besides Union Of Sleep?

A: We all played in diffrent bands before but no one has a project going on right now. I used to be a member of THE NOW DENIAL, DOOMTOWN and BURIAL.

6.Q:What's the one outstanding lesson youve learned from your time in scene thus far?

A: There are cool things to achieve, if people don't act like shit!

7.Q:Play a music that part of thinking-man music,what do you think or find marijuana/acid to be part of inspirational of musical experiments?

A: It can be a part, but not necessarily. I have to admit, most of my riffs are written on dope, though.

8.Q:2010 plans?future tour/release/show?

A: Our new record will be out around early october on PER KORO Records. The mighty MENORA Records will put it out as a CD as well as a tape version of our first 12", so we can spread UOS's total stultification all over the SE Asia territory. Besides some single showswe are also planning a tour in germany in october. Watch out!

Attention Sludge-heads!!!!!! I came across these guys the other day online and had to get in touch with them to get this LP to review it. Listening to it immediately brought two things to mind: Church of Misery, and Holy Shit this kicks some ASS!!!!!! If you dig really bluesy, groovy, down-tuned, “bust your balls with a Louisville slugger” style heavy hitting stoner doom, then look no further then these guys form Hagen, Germany. If the likes of Church of Misery, Cavity, 16, Weedeater, El Thule, etc. make you excited, then check this sucker out for sure. It has the right amount of blues riffs, southern boogie, gruff booze drenched vocals, and is just a hard-hitting riff fest over all. These guys are too good for me to just pass up mentioning, the link is at the bottom of the review, so check them out, it’ll only take about five minutes of your time, but you’ll be addicted I’m sure. This is essential, and I can rarely say that with absolute certainty.

Sometimes they rock out like shit, but still keep the pace slow. A genre of riffs, with grate and dirt, spit, all taken into directions, angles, and awkward spaces. Rhythm and bass that flows like a rolling river, sometimes rapid, sometimes heavy, thick, and melodic, but always moving forward. These albums are laden with vocals that can haunt, entrance, or enrage, with angry lyrics and very low attitude.
