Limited color pressings of red, grey, white, clear w/ grey splatter and black in 180g vinyl, and with printed inner record sleeve with lyrics released via HYDRA HEAD.

"This goes down as the heaviest, most anguished and terrifying piece of music released this year.Combining the more conventional doom riffing of their debut with the bass-heavy drone and ambient spaces of "Things Viral", Khanate have made music to soundtrack nightmares.Dubin gargles glass, screams his torment and loneliness through lyrics seeming to describe an abduction and murder. However, unlike most lyrics of this type you actually feel like you're living it. This is mainly due to the intensity of the musical performance - Plotkin's bass throbs cave in your ribs, O'Malley's guitar slashes out razor sharp riffs, and Wyskida presides over the whole thing by thrashing his drumkit hard enough to produce natural disasters. The sound of the universe falling into a black hole is the best metaphor I can use to describe it. Devastating."-amazon.co.uk KHANATE-CAPTURE AND RELEASE LP(BLACK)

PYRAMIDS:
Pyramids just redefined grimness for a generation... this is music you lose yourself (and your sanity) to... I wanna hear more. - Decibel
[an] unapologetic post-rock assault... a formidable talent -Pitchfork
Located at the point where ecstasy tips over into terror, 'Pyramids' is a beguiling nightmare of an album. - Terrorizer
NADJA:
Their ambient shoegazer metal is deep and expansive, best experienced unhurriedly. A deluge of it only suggests it is easier to make than focused pop songs. - Pitchfork
[Nadja] play deep droning Ambient Metal where vague, indistinct sounds evolve or mutate into something altogether more solid, if not monolithic...It is crude but also oddly dreamlike. - The Wire
A good massive collaborative effort .

Coalesce: Sean Ingram (vocals); Jes Steiner (guitar); Nathan Ellis (bass); James Dewees (drums, background vocals). Additional personnel: Matt Pryor (vocals). Recorded at Red House Studios, Lawrence, Kansas on September 4-17, 1998. Coalesce: Nathan Ellis (bass instrument); Jes Steineger, James Dewees, Sean Ingram. Personnel: Sean Ingram (vocals); Jes Steineger (guitar); James Dewees (drums, background vocals). Audio Mixer: Ed Rose. Recording information: Red House Studios, Eudora, KS (1997-1998); Westend Studios (1997-1998). Photographer: James OMara. Either a lengthy EP or a short full-length depending on how you look at it, this CD consists entirely of Led Zeppelin covers, reverently done yet not likely to be mistaken for the originals. The first five songs are played hard and heavy in Coalesce`s pummeling metalcore style, peaking with a ferocious version of "Black Dog," spiced up with some of the band`s trademark math metal rhythms. Frontman Sean Ingram handles the lead vocals in his typically caustic, bellowing roar, with Matt Pryor from emo-pop band the Get Up Kids chiming in on the melodic sections in his regular voice -- in other words, no Robert Plant impersonations here! The CD closes with two acoustic guitar-based ballads, "That`s the Way" and "Thank You," giving some idea of what Zeppelin might have sounded like as sensitive Middle American post-adolescents. The vocals, done completely clean, are a little shaky on these tunes and sometimes veer off key, but somehow they work in this context. Led Zeppelin fans might be horrified at the liberties Coalesce takes here, but ultimately the band has succeeded at breathing new life into some heavily worn (though still classic) songs. (Coalesce listeners, on the other hand, will note this album as a precursor to the subsequent 0:12 Revolution in Just Listening, which also has its share of heavy blues-based rock grooves.) In any case, this is a fun disc, and one meant to be played loud. ~ William YorCoalesce-

Self-described as "a loud, heavy, annoying rock band for people with short attention spans," Cleveland, OH, quartet Keelhaul plays a dense, punishing hardcore/metal hybrid that has fittingly led to a home on Hydra Head Records, which has also issued recordings by such roughly like-minded bands as Knut, ISIS, Cattle Press, and Neurosis. Members of Keelhaul's lineup had been playing together since the early '90s but the group didn't officially form until 1998. The quartet consists of bassist/vocalist Aaron Dallison, guitarist Dana Embrose, drummer Will Scharf, and guitarist/vocalist Chris Smith (formerly a member of Cleveland hardcore band Integrity). Their self-titled debut album originally came out in 1998 on the Cleveland-based Cambodia Recordings label before being reissued by Escape Artist Records the following year. Following a 7" on Hydra Head and tours with bands including Eyehategod, Botch, and Cave-In, the band released its second full-length in 2001. Simply entitled II, the CD came out on Hydra Head, with Escape Artist issuing it on vinyl. ~ William York, All Music Keelhaul's -Triumphant Return to Obscurity CD/LP AVAILABLE

Greymachine is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most realized collaborative effort between Justin Broadrick (Jesu, Godflesh, Napalm Death etc..), Dave Cochrane (Head Of David, God, Ice), Diarmuid Dalton (Jesu, Godflesh) and Aaron Turner (ISIS, House of Low Culture, etc..) ever! If you're a fan of Godflesh, or have even a fleeting interest in the band, this bud's for you; if you subscribe to The Aural & Visual Art of Aaron Turner this shits a pool party. Disconnected, the album in question, sounds like a serious case of cyberbullying through the mind of an extremely autistic child living in an ever-shifting hadean landscape thronged with mindless militants, dilapidated cityscapes and ephemeral phantoms... so to summarize the summation, Disconnected is haunting and modern sounding... In a good way.
GREYMACHINE-Disconnected CD AVAILABLE

Jodis an entirely new outfit involving James Plotkin (Khanate,KHLYST), AaronTunner(Isis,Old Man Gloom) and Tim Wyskida (Khanate,Blind Idiot God) is a modern exploration of restrained sonic minimalism and tonal textural density.Secret House as a whole, recalls a void,a shoreless pit,a slow nihilistic into absolute blankness.

"Music the group created for a gallery exhibit in London (the jacket includes great pictures from it). Attila Csihar's vocals seem to be played backwards, so this one has a different feel to. These guys never stand still. This is almost only on vinyl - there are 2000 CD copies that are only sold at gigs."

Quite a few of those millennial types on the internet have been asking the band things like: ''What's up with the new album? Why's it taking so long? How come you guys don't play that one song anymore or have merchandise at your shows?''While Big Business don't have time to answer all of those types of questionsdirectly, we at Hydra Head would like to take this opportunity to present you with some True Facts about Mind The Drift.FACT #1:Producer Phil Ek (insert famous bands like The Shins here) has again evolved the band's grandiose sound and taken the Biz into new sonic territories!FACT #2:Guitarist and newest band member Toshi Kasai adds new voice and dimension, and looks good doing it. You can actually hear the handsome.FACT #3:Most of the instrumental tracks were recorded at AVAST! 2 studios in Seattle, WA in June and July of 2008.FACT #4:Due to the busy touring schedule of Big Biz and the Melvins, most of the vocals, as well as some overdubs and mixing, had to be postponed until late November of 2008. The album was completed in Los Angeles (well, ctually, Burbank to be precise). (That's a two-fer.)FACT #5:While recording Jared's vocals, Phil Ek kept a loaded sawed-off shotgun in thecontrol room.

While the climate of any Cavity album could be considered hostile, "Laid Insignificant" has proven to be the most unhinged and ferocious occupant in the stable in the ten years subsequent to its original release. While retaining the foundational elements of Sabbathian swagger upon which their reputation was built, this album proved Cavity had more to offer in terms of compositional prowess. With added emphasis on faster tempos, layered chordal discordance, and an overall air of frantic desperation, this may stand if not as Cavity's best album, then certainly as their most furious and scathing.

"The band's combination of chamber instruments, psychedelia, and metal gives it an almost delusional appeal...the slow sections are suspenseful, and the climaxes will make your hair jump off your head." --Pitchfork MediaMulti-instrumentalists Toby Driver and Mia Matsumiya lull you into a dream state with a small cavalcade of instrumentation, plying an almost noir sensibility at once moody and contemplative, bristling and demure. An unclassifiable masterpiece.

This is a collection series of the early material, which Unifying Themes Redux compiles from 7" tracks, comp appearances, and demos. (first in Hydra Head's Botch reissue series; expanded versions of American Nervoso and We Are the Romans are due later this year). Perfect for a collection, Unifying Themes comes across as impressively cohesive. The tracks here are ferocious, the guitars are technical to the point of accusations of impossibility, and the tempo changes are unpredictable and brutal. Such a great fantastic introduction and a great ingredient for a recipe of AMAZING BAND.

"Scofield blends the most attractive elements of sludge, metal, and space rock to edge out Brodsky and McGrath for the coveted, best Cave In side project trophy." --Absolute PunkZozobra is a metal band that was first conceived by Caleb Scofield during 2006. He was joined by Santos Montano for the band's first release, Harmonic Tremors in 2007. Sonically, Zozobra bears a lot in common with the experimental-hardcore of Old Man Gloom (a project in which both of its members are involved) and symbolically shares a synonymous name; at the same time Zozobra is more post-metal than hardcore punk. Zozobra toured the United States with Isis and Jesu in early 2007. Zozobra has allowed Caleb Scofield the chance to write his own songs for the first time ever, unlike Cave In and Old Man Gloom. The new album, Bird of Prey, was released on August 5, 2008 and features Aaron Harris of Isis on drums.

2009 release from the extreme Doom Metal group. Clean Hands Go Foul represents the final nail in the Khanate coffin, and a more fitting ending could not have been devised. Having left hordes of imitators in their wake, there will only ever be one Khanate. Clean Hands Go Foul is the most interesting material from Khanate and is telepathic in its cohesion. In past albums the emotional current only went from hate to anger to overt violence, but the new album has a resigned and tender sadness to it; it really resonates with its listeners.
KHANATE-CLEAN HANDS GO FOUL CD AVAILABLE

Not having left their emotionally unstable path of heavy post-rock oaths behind, Envy has cracked open its core and stripped the sound down to its epic essence. Their constant touring has made this Japanese ensemble one of the most talented and accepted acts around. Always passionate and persistent, these three songs are even more diverse than previous classics. Simply elegant, yet still energetic, the songs wander deeply through the thick clouds of post-hardcore guitar dust and channel the remorseless pieces that lead to the dark side. Jesu mastermind, Justin K. Broadrick, freshly wrote, recorded, mixed and produced these two tracks in early 2008. Musically, they are adventurous showing more of their dub step influence and beat-oriented sound. On this new slab, he incorporates melodic twisted pop elements with downtempo heaviness. This creates a stark textured vessel intoxicated by the minimalism of cold techno drama. Jesu holds on to the feeling of eternity, still being a modern day fly machine, yet never loses a transient sight.
JESU/ENVY SPLIT CD AVAILABLE

The band that brought you australasia and the fire in our throats will beckon the thaw (decibel magazine's album of the year for 2005) returns with opus number three, a series of (r)evolutionary instrumental ruminations on touring and the homogenous effects of globalization. with shorter songs and expanded catchiness, city of echoes is pelican's "pop album," according to guitarist laurent schroeder-lebec, a deftly executed reminder that these dudes can do whatever they feel like and still make those hairs on the back of our necks stand up like tiny little boners. which is a-okay by us, because whenever lsl and fellow guitarist trevor de brauw join forces with the now-la-based herweg brothers--larry (drums) and bryan (bass)--to form the ultimate instrumental quadrangle, it's all shazzam! and the next thing you know, they're dropping so many suckas with all those
sweet, victorious riffs that it begins to feel like chicago in july, when everybody's air-conditioners simultaneously shit the bed and the old folks start piling up like logs at the city morgue. when the heat wave passes and the humidity subsides, the pelican dudes stand on top of the proverbial heap, possibly hoisting a chalice of some type--maybe even a sword, but not in a manowar kind of way--as the reverberations from their own amplified gloriousness rain upon their heads (and all of our heads, really) like manna from heaven. amen.

Digitally remastered reissue of Ox Bow's 1990 debut release. This record proves that the band was once much younger and even better looking. Aptly titled, Fuckfest is a pornographic snapshot of a burgeoning musical force in its formative years; a raw, naked display of desperate humanity and abject terror.

"...Broadrick has layered so many blurps, wooshes, and digital gnarls throughout each song, they take on a life of their own" --Decible
On this five track EP, Justin Broadrick has set aside the heavy foundation of pounding guitars prevalent in past recordings and brought to the fore elements of texture and melody.

Torche boasts members of Hydra Head alumni band Cavity as well as Floor. Call this the latest and greatest bomb-string stoner pop/thunder rock/doom pop classic from Torche mastermind Steve Brooks and his fellow hook heroes. Call it the sweetest, catchiest, hugest riff colossus since "Sky Valley". "A pure sludge bulldozer" - Spin. "At long last, we know what life would be like in a parallel universe where The Melvins became a pop sensation instead of Nirvana" - Revolver. Look for them at SXSW and on a full European tour. "Made by an additive process of combining different qualities of sound (dissonant and harmonious) from seemingly dissimilar sources (a piano and a shark's tooth) so they cohere into what could be called a song" --Meg Cranston
Their first full-length. Each song is built around the composition of piano, interlaced with field recordings, organ, glass jars, cello, voice, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, time worn Japanese distortion pedals, drums, and uncommon percussion instruments.

Invoking an aesthetic amalgam of black echoes, night sweats, and necromancy, Khanate bassist James Plotkin (Phantomsmasher, ex-O.L.D.) and vocalist Runhild Gammelsaeter (ex-Sunn O, Thorr's Hammer) set forth on a bleak journey beset with incubi, death convulsions, and abject hopelessness. The eight chapters that comprise Khlyst's oeuvre basically sound like you're being beat with a wet mattress while someone screams in your ear. Paradoxically, it's also completely musical and wholly enjoyable. Brutal, jarring, unique.

One of America's most prolific and unapproachable underground metal musicians, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Malefic has been responsible for half a dozen releases since 1995 under his nom de plume of Xasthur. Rarely counting with outside help and with his music mostly qualifying in the atmospheric black metal field (also exploited by acts such as Azrael and Judas Iscariot), Xasthur's output has included 2001's A Gate Through Bloodstained Mirrors, 2002's Nocturnal Poisoning, 2003's Suicide in Dark Serenity, and The Funeral of Being.
